Augmented reality (AR): This is where mobile processors (on the front end) are powerful enough to add an extra layer onto views acquired through the camera. This will usher in the next era of maps; instead of people looking at street or satellite views, they will just take a photo of a street view, and popups/bubbles will show what businesses are available, along with ads. Developers and startups have been talking about augmented reality, but it never took off until this game came out. Expect more startup money to flow to AR startups. More outdoor games: Instead of people just playing onscreen games, they will go out and do the kind of hunting which Pokemon GO has introduced. Expect more games and apps to use GPS.
