Seeing many (esp) young people use it as pejorative (in sarcasm to someone), I don’t think it’s very smart to say it to anyone. But just that day? Should I ever use the UConn Huskies they only hate us ’cause they ain’t us 6 time shirt Besides,I will do this phrase, I would at least clarify it by saying “may you have a blessed life” rather than come off like I’m commanding the person. Or that I have some kind of authority to dish it out “blessing coming your way” The word bless, blessed and so blessed are overused and trivialized. It like bragging you’re special because something Brits swear at each other far more than Americans, indeed it takes Americans a little time in Britain to figture out when bastard is a sign of approval or the prelude to a fight. A particular difference is that this is independent of status of the people involved. Also the range of words is greater in the UK, partly because of Scottish, Irish and Welsh words but also because apparently there is no Amercan word for wanker or tosser.
