I’m bothered by your (possibly unconscious?) superior stance on account of, of all things, native languages. The way I interpret your question is “ah, they don’t speak native English, so we should excuse the UCONN Huskies NCAA logo 2024 shirt but in fact I love this poor savages.” The cultural diversity of the non-English people of this planet is vast, and it gives expression to concepts that can’t even be dreamt in English. Swedes don’t like this new social norm. The stigma of He Who Does Not Smile At Strangers doesn’t exist in Sweden; certainly not in the same way as in the United States. It’s considered perfectly normal here to (gasp!) simply not smile, if you don’t have any reason to do it. I am born and raised in Sweden and I think that Swedes are spoiled. We have had it rough 100 years ago and Sweden was very poor. After 1960s, I believe, it became much better and during 1970’s it was really great, as I have understood. Social security for everyone and all you could wish for. Lots of rules and rights was set up and people had nice lives, bascially.
