People who claim Americans pay more than every other country with worse results are talking out of their ass. In the UConn Huskies men’s basketball National back to back Champions 2023-2024 shirt Additionally,I will love this US, hospitals seem cleaner, there’s a better doctor to patient ratio, you get private rooms (or at least not rooms full of 20+ people like my grandad got stuck in in London), the equipment is more available and more advanced, etc. Again, as someone who’s covered by my employer this is just great. And in the U.K., this is more dependent on where you are. Some hospitals in smaller areas have a better ability to help due to smaller populations. The problem I find with Americans who want a “European system” don’t know what they’re talking about. They’ll talk about how great the German system is but call you a liar when you say the German system isn’t fully private. They’ll talk about the Swedish system and claim Sweden has really low taxes. It depends on which country’s system you want. Do you want the British system? I really do not recommend this of all the European systems. Do you want the Swedish system? I doubt the American people would put up with the taxes. Do you want the Swiss system? There’s an individual mandate, something not popular in America. I think a lot of Americans would maybe tolerate the Irish or German system. I’d be ok with that provided the government first of all allow importation of foreign made drugs and also not make it financially impossible to go private which I think they’d try. I think the way to go is semi private. Make provisions to help those who can’t afford to go private but deregulate the private system to make it cheaper. I see a belief in a lot of liberals that even if you can afford private it’s better to go public and I think if they specifically had power they’d try and price the private sector out of the competition or tax them out of existence. I strongly disagree with anyone who says nationalise the whole system. Especially since the average income in the US is about 70K.
