If it is part of a uniform you need to wear a certain way and has a tie, you could hide a collar extender under the tie-see below. It is more flattering if you leave the front neck open a couple buttons to create a v which elongates your neck. There is no message. It is just fashion I think. I am a young women and I occasionally button up my shirts to the top (not all the time though). I think it looks and feels more comfortable. I can’t speak for all “senior” women but most older women are more comfortable with their body than when they were young. When I was young, I did not like the attention I got from “older” men. I used to dress conservative and in wider clothes. I was emotionally not yet matured while my body was. Now I am in my fifties and used to being a woman. 🙂 I dress less conservative and yes, I show a little cleavage. Personally, I am very glad that I do not draw the attention of men anymore, well sometimes I still do, lol, but it’s not from the creepy ones. It makes me feel free to be myself. I do not envy my young colleagues, especially when I see how male colleagues from all ages approach them and how they have to fend off the unprofessional attention. I never enjoyed being approached like that and I am glad it doesn’t happen anymore.
